Travel Log # 7: Zion, Arches, Canyon Land & A Bit of Adversity

12/6/19
This day's adventure included a visit to

 Weeping Rock

This is along the Riverwalk Trail.

We met up with this elderly couple along the trail and exchanged a few kind words. We had stopped for a moment on the trail to admire something beautiful and Johnny poked me and nodded toward the couple. They were all embraced up kissing...the sweetest picture. So, we had to stop for a kiss too--you know, the boys needed something so say "Oh gross" at. More importantly than that, we want them to know it is great to be in love with the person you marry...even after a whole bunch of years!

There were several deer enjoying the sunshine along one of our trails. They were not the least bothered by our presence.

We hiked to the upper pool of the waterfall at the top.

 Pac-Man!

We stayed another night in LaVerkin, Utah.

12/7/19
Once we got up and packed we headed to
We spent the last few hours before sunset exploring a small part of
Very fitting for the goat in the family...

 Do you the sphinx?

We ended up staying 3 nights in Moab, Utah.

12/8/19
We woke up and Johnny was a year older! High-five to being 45! We spent the day exploring and hiking at

We stayed until the afternoon/evening rain arrived.
Going out, it looked liked snow--but it was sleet!

12/9/19
We spent the day exploring/hiking the rest of Arches National Park.

John and Jack climbed up this steep rock to sit in this cave area.
They loved that Johnny tried a few times and was not able to get up it! It is great to hear them mess with Johnny about it. Of course Johnny assures them he could have gotten up it.

Have I told you all we have put lots of miles on the shoes?

We got a good laugh with this one! It is posted in all the restrooms in the park.

12/10/19
We  packed up all of our stuff and checked out of the hotel in Moab. We headed to check out the Slick Rock trails. We watched several videos the night before of people climbing them.

When we got back inside, I asked Johnny what that smell was. We were the only vehicle around...turns out, the water pump went bad in his truck. We went to 2 shops and neither had time to do the repair...SO, Johnny decided to tackle it himself. He pulled into a parking lot behind the part store, got EVERYTHING out of the truck so he could access his tools, laid on the ground, climbed into the motor (repeat this 100 times at least), covered himself in grease from his shoulders to the tips of his fingers...and he does it. He only needed a little help from John and I to put the belt back on. While he did the repair, I made us all sandwiches and the boys and I sat in the back seat and watched a movie.

After the interruption, we stopped to gawk at the Hole in the Rock--a 5000 sq ft. house built into the rock.

That is a real Jeep up there!

We then travelled to our next destination.
We stayed the night in Cortez, Colorado.

Live a Meaningful Life!
