Intentional Living

The other night Johnny asked me where I would like to be, and what I would like to be doing 10 years from now. Honestly, I have no clue what I even said in response. But, the thought has lingered. It has become a driving force behind a couple of recent book choices and a consistent topic mentioned in prayer. The Bible is consistent in the message of how we are to live. Here are few examples: Ephesians 5:15-17    Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise,   making the most of every opportunity,  because the days are evil.   Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.   Proverbs 4:26-27 Ponder the path of your feet and let your ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor the left. Keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he ponders all his goings. Here is what I do know about my life: I want to live a life that honors Christ. I want my words and actions to be a refl

The Great Zombie Extraction of 2018...True Story

This is the truth. Since Johnny and I became parents 12 years ago, we have done and said things we never even dreamed of saying or doing. And I mean, they aren't sophisticated, noble things either. Let me just share a few examples:  "Come on, stop eating your boogers!" Actually, I showed a little science video of what boogers are and took care of that one. "Stop licking your brother!" "No, No! NO! That is horse manure, stop eating it!" (We all still laugh about this one--and the fact Johnny held Jackson side ways under the kitchen tap trying to clean out his mouth. I cry when John Gannon retells the story.) "Can you tell me exactly what you are going to do with that 20 lbs. of stuff in that bag while we just walk down the road?" "What did you think would happen if you jabbed the exercise ball with scissors?" It sure is a good thing we love these guys so much! Oh, the adventures, laughs, cries, and just plain bummfuzzledness they hav

Family Update and The Beginning of the Countdown

Whew! Can I tell you how relieved I am that our lives have slowed down tremendously since our last post? I am not sure how much I whined about it, but from August-the first week of December was the busiest season of my life! I am telling you--those of you who have a kid or two or more in all season sports and/or weekly practices, work a couple of jobs, teach your kids and maintain a household--I do not envy you AT ALL .  Being too busy can suck the life out of you! In addition, I also made a fatal, stupid, ignorant mistake. I pushed a power button. I knew better, but I had forgotten I was doing an IOS update on my MAC, actually installing a completely new one. And there was no going back. I had already prepared myself to lose everything, so when the phone rang to let me know there was nothing that could be done other than to start over, it didn't come as such a shock. Over 17,000 family pictures and videos...gone...resumes and cv, years of lectures and syllabi, and a family heir
