Our Weekend in the Psych Ward

Image
One weekend ago, I honestly cannot remember if it was a week ago or two weeks ago, Johnny and I admitted ourselves. We left the children in good hands with Granny, and made the trek. We packed a few things that would be essential to positive therapeutic outcomes. We arrived at the facility and made a quick round to make sure they had room for us. When we saw there was plenty of open spots, we immediately went for our first therapy session. Our first session was shock therapy, 13.6 miles of it to be exact. This was our view when we reached our goal. After our first session, we officially checked into the facility. As you can see, the swing bed unit offered nice, scenic rooms. As a matter of fact, for our next session, Johnny and I decided to take different paths. I combined bibliotherapy with the swing bed.  He chose an intensive water therapy. After these intensive sessions, the facility director, Roxe suggested we brush up on

Chocolate Pie Memories

This is not my pie, even though mine is just as pretty. This is actually a picture from the Pioneer Woman. I am at the library and not able to take a picture of my beauties! I love chocolate pie. I have such fond memories of eating a huge chunk while sitting at the round table of my Mother Ballard (my great-grandmother). I can’t tell you how many times I have watched her whisk a meringue into shape. She always said the secret was a little lemon juice. I even remember eating a piece of the last one she cooked. Her health wasn’t so great, and I am pretty sure there was more flour than sugar put into that one.  Fast forward several years and I discover that my step-mom (Fran) makes a fine, generational-recipe chocolate pie. About once a year I get to taste the goodness. And if there is an extra, I usually take it home and hope that Johnny hasn’t finished it off every time I open the fridge!  I must go ahead and confess to you all, I committed a horrendous sin today. I called

Trip Gone Bad

Image
Saturday, April 23rd was such a beautiful day we decided to take the camper for a quick, overnight trip to a local park that we had not visited since we have had children, Tombigbee State Park. We invited Granny on our overnight adventure, and she happily accepted. We are hoping this experience didn't ruin her willingness to go camping with us! It started as blissful as every other adventure we had set forth to experience. I mean, look at these happy faces that were in the backseat on our way! Every time we arrive at a destination, the boys are always so excited. We have secured our spot and are headed to "move in." Let the fun begin! John Gannon is carefully making sure Jackson doesn't fall. Trust me, Jackson can hold his own on the monkey bars but Mr. Safety just wants to make sure! And as always, it wasn't long before I was gifted with carefully chosen beautiful "flowers" by Jackson.  I did mention it was such a beautiful
