Fun Times and an ULTIMATE FAIL!

In true Cox fashion, we finally decided on Tuesday night to take a quick trip.  You know that we traditionally avoid tourist traps/vacation cities, etc. But it is winter. I hate cold weather and we found a GREAT DEAL! 3 Days/2 nights lodging at a hotel with an indoor water park, tickets for 2 adults/2 kids for 2 shows, $10 arcade card, 2 large pizzas, card for all the complimentary tea/coffee you can drink at several places within the resort, 1 round of 18 hole miniature golf for each of us for $178 in Branson, Missouri (Grand Country Resort). We had no idea of what to expect, but decided to hit the road Thursday morning and find out.

Turns out, it was a great trip.  We parked on Thursday and didn't get in the car again until we left Saturday afternoon. We did no "room lounging" and were busy the entire time (we only spent an additional $20 during that time!) Great deal & Great experience!

Within minutes after checking in the hotel, we were headed to the water park. We played there for several hours. Excuse the blurred mess of pictures--I still do not have a camera and these phones are not made to snap pictures of children in motion!

After eating dinner, we headed to the pool facility and stayed there until almost 11! The next morning, we went to our first show-Amazing Pets. It was a 2 hour show that included cats, dogs, and parrots doing all kinds of neat things. The host, AppleJack, was really entertaining as well. Jackson even raised his hand and got called on to share something with the audience. This picture was right before Jackson got called on. We were only allowed to take pictures when he was out--the pet show was copyrighted, and therefore, pictures were not allowed.

After the Amazing Pets, we had lunch and headed to the water park for more fun. After 3 1/2 hours it was time to decide if we would be going to the second show or staying at the waterpark. Jackson chose to go to the Comedy Show and John Gannon chose to stay at the waterpark. He had made a large group of friends and they were involved in some serious play! So, Jack and I went to the Comedy Show which included several comedy acts and lots of music. It was good but some of the humor was not really appropriate for preteens + in my opinion. Jackson loved it and even danced around to some of the music the band played/sang.

After the show, we all met in the room and had dinner.  We then headed to the arcade for some more fun. The boys played several games. Jackson rode the bumper cars. John Gannon completed a laser maze and we all played our round of golf. There were 2 courses to choose from-Barnyard Adventure and Blacklight. We chose the backlight because it was indoors.

Next, the boys and I headed to the pool for some more fun. I let Johnny stay in the room for some peace time!! We stayed there for a couple of hours and then back to the room we traveled. At 10:00pm, the arcade was hosting a free party. SO, Johnny took the boys and I enjoyed some peace time!

The last day, we got everything packed and played at the waterpark for a few hours before leaving. We rode around Branson for a while to see what else was there-we had not left parking lot since arriving.

Then, we hit the home button on the GPS! (The picture of JG was actually taken at Mammoth Springs State Park on the way home-not in Branson.)

In summary, it was a fun, activity packed trip for a great price.  So what about the ultimate fail? That would be with me! I left with no plan or remote thought about how or what I was going to eat. So what happened? A chemical, pre-packaged, junk intake is what happened! Pizza, chips, hamburgers, fries, doughnuts, cookies...I almost deleted that because it sounds shameful! But hey-there it is-the truth!!

By about 3:00 on Saturday I felt yuck! I told Johnny I felt like my skin and organs were screaming-what in the world have you put in here???? It was a great experience for me--HAVE A PLAN NEXT TIME!! I am just glad it was for a few short days and not a week or longer! Those Krispy Kreme doughnuts that are left in the box over on the counter are just going to have to go stale...
