The Goat and the Rabbit..Faces of Thunder Rock #3

I was taking my morning walk through the campground last week and saw this sign on the side of a vehicle. It definitely grabbed my attention and made me want to hear their story. Thankfully, they were having breakfast at the picnic table, so I barged in.

Meet Greg and Joanna Jenkins (the Goat and the Rabbit).
Guess what they are doing this summer? Serving others! They are from Rome, New York and had the desire to travel around to nursing homes to entertain the residents. So, on June 24th they started their first journey, "The Heart Touching Tour." When they finish they will have traveled through 7 states and brought smiles to so many faces. During their stay with us they stopped in at a home based facility that only had 3 residents. The facility was so thrilled that someone took the time to spend time with them. What a joy it must have been to all of them. They were on their way to Memphis, TN for their next stop.

How inspiring it is to meet two people who are giving their time and resources to serve others out of love and authenticity. While on this journey, they are documenting their trip online and sharing their experiences with all the "residents" they meet. They are taking the time to show them the places they travel to and engaging them in fun questions and events. The next event is Smore Day--July 14. They are trying to get over 1,000 smores eaten that day by residents and people they have visited.

You can follow their journey by clicking this link and liking their page: Goat & Rabbit Page. If you know of a facility that would welcome a visit or like to follow along with the videos, questions and events, please share this with them.  In addition, they aren't getting paid to do this. So if you want to share some resources with them, I am sure it would be very appreciated and help them on this journey as they seek to bring joy to others. (While they did give me permission to share their story, they did not solicit anything in return. I just thought it would be nice in case any one wanted to contribute!)

Do you have a dream to do something for others? How about getting started now! It doesn't take money, talent, or anything profound to care for others. It just takes time and a willingness to do so. Notice the senior sitting on the bench as you walk by--take a minute and acknowledge his/her presence and listen for a few, be kind when a store employee is struggling, or send a text/note of encouragement to someone who has invested in your life. Those are investments worth making!

Live a Meaningful Life.
