Moments: Are They Worth Protecting?

You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. James 4:14

You and I, we are allotted some time here on this earth. How long? Your guess is as good as mine. Regardless of the allotted days or minutes we have remaining, our life really is just a vapor. As I survey my surroundings, I look and see vast needs. I see devastated families, wounded children, lonely people, sick people...I see the eyes of two boys looking at me. Oh, what great responsibility we have with our time here.

We have absolutely no control over our past, what we have done up until this point. However, we can decide from this moment forward what we will prioritize each day as all things scream out demanding our attention. Stop telling yourself the lie, "When I....then I will make time for..." All you have is right now. "You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow..."

Do you need some help prioritizing? I think a good place to start is the top 2--Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love others as you love yourself. (Matthew 22: 37-39). As you begin doing this, look around and pray. Find needs and help to meet those needs. Put everything down and give your undivided attention to someone who needs you. Enjoy the beauty of the small things...the glow of a sunrise or sunset, the excitement in the heart of a child, the innocence of a newborn baby...the hands of two boys as they casually walk up beside you on a hike. Share the Gospel. We never know when those moments will come to a screeching halt.

May we not waste our moments.
