June 28-July 1

We woke up really early on June 28th and headed to Atlanta. Johnny had to attend a work related conference, and of course, we tagged along. Our first stop--Six Flags. In case you didn't know, Six Flags has a Read to Succeed Program. If you are a teacher (public or homeschool), you can register your class for the program (really simple process) online. In March you log how many hours of recreational reading each student completed. If it is 6 hours or more they receive free tickets to Six Flags and the teacher receives free tickets as well.

This trip was a little extra special--Granny went with us! We love for Granny to go with us! Six Flags on Sunday, June 28th was EXTRA crowded. While we did get a handful of rides in and some time at the waterpark, it seemed that most of our day was walking and standing in long lines! Our favorite memory--Granny on the roller coaster! We have a video!!

The next day, Johnny attended sessions and we just hung out at the hotel, enjoying the pool and tv.

On Tuesday, Granny, the boys, and I battled Atlanta traffic and went to the Legoland Discovery Center. While it too was EXTREMELY crowded but the boys had a great time!

I was impressed with John Gannon's car designs. He made 3 different models and all three survived the ramp and actually jumped into or over the bin. I was having difficulty figuring out how to make my car roll well. I noticed he put these spacers things between his wheels and the body. I asked him how he knew to do that. His reply, "Really, mom? You can just look at it and tell. Obviously, you are smarter about some other stuff but not this." He spoke truth!

While Jack and I stood in line for ride, John enlisted Granny's help of gathering bricks and constructed a sky scraper. It held up well to the "earthquake."

Also, on Monday and Tuesday nights, we visited the Main Event in Atlanta. Monday night (discount night) was EXTREMELY loud and crowded. Tuesday was much better. The boys had a blast.

On Wed, Johnny went to sessions that morning and then we left for home. Our consensus--we are once again reminded how we really just don't prefer cities and attractions. John Gannon has repeated over and over and that he prefers to be at the river. While we did have some enjoyable times, the crowds, the traffic, and the price tags on everything you want to do get a little old!
