"It's Been a Long Time..."

Yes, Conway, it has been a long time. I had a random thought today about this space. I remember writing about pieces of our lives as they were unfolding with the sole intention of having the memories in the future. The first post I read brought such a smile, it was about the time Johnny brought a 5 foot snake into the house and it got loose. Remembering the reactions of our two boys...and thinking about them now as they are beginning to branch out into adult life. Time, it just keeps ticking and life keeps happening.

As I kept scrolling through old posts I also realized this was a coping tool for me as well, a place to laugh and process some of my thoughts. It was a tool that helped remind me of what was important and helped me put into perspective what I value. So here I am today, picking up an old tool. Partly, because I want to, another part because I need to.

Truthfully, life has been brutal to Johnny and I the past few years. Not between us, but all around us. As with all hard things, they are purposeful, molding and refining us. Do we understand all the things? Absolutely not. Have/do we like it-NO!! But we trust that all things are working out for our good and His Glory (shortened application/paraphrase of Romans 8:28).

It is easy to get caught up in the demands of the day, the worries of tomorrow, and the weight of whatever season we find ourselves in. So much time is spent trying to get through the hard things, get to the next thing, or figure out what is next. How exhausting and...crippling. I can often lose sight of the life God has placed right in front of us.

One day, we will look back and see the years behind us more clearly that we can see them now. My hope is that when I do, I won't remember the things that happened to me or the things I endured. I hope I see a life that, through all its joys and sorrows, was being lived for the glory of God.

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Live a Meaningful Life!
