Thoughts
We spent the last week of February at Wilderness at the Smokies. This thing was the boys' favorite. They quickly learned how to trick it out!
Here is a sampling of things I have thought about over the last 24 hours...
1. Having to go outside to walk to a non-heated bathroom in 30 degree weather in the mornings is not that exciting. I have always thought we would like living primitively. Um...non heated bathrooms that you have to walk to in the winter-No thanks! Call me spoiled--I like bathrooms that are warm! I almost scream when I sit down on the toilet because it is so cold. However, it does just make a story better, right? (We currently don't have a sewage hookup for our camper and are having to keep from filling our black water tanks.)
2. Johnny and I never get to eat the last of anything anymore. This past week I have tried to eat the leftover t-bones (2 1/2 of them were left when I went to bed the previous night). Nope...at lunch that day I was informed that John Gannon ate ALL of them before he went to bed! They were a little over 16 oz each! He said they were so good! Friday, we went to Blue Ridge to pick up some things and got pizza and ate at a park. Those left overs...I didn't even ask. Were they in my fridge even 4 hours later? NO! I have always heard people joke about how much boys eat. I didn't have a clue. It just keeps getting worse.
3. Fresh squeezed lime in water is the best drink ever. I hate when I run out of limes!
4. EVERY TIME we boil eggs, Johnny says to go ahead and make a dozen and he will snack on them too. He never does even eat one. Best snack ever--cut up boiled egg with sweet peppers/mushrooms/tomatoes and a dap of whole grain mustard or a cut up boiled egg with a dab of cheddar cheese and a touch of homemade strawberry preserves. At least I get to eat the last of the boiled eggs!
5. I talk ENTIRELY too much after going long periods of time (days/weeks) with no social chat/interaction with people outside of my family. Just a warning.
6. One day Johnny and the boys went to do something, and I stayed at the camper. About an hour or so later, I tried to go outside. For some reason, he decided to lock both locks from the outside! I had no way out, except by the emergency windows. So...we live in a camper, pick up clothes on side of the road for our kids, have to go to an unheated bathroom in the freezing cold, and Johnny keeps me captive in the camper not allowing me to get out into civilization for long periods of time. I am sure there is a CPS report somewhere in there. And just for the record--I absolutely still love our life! Sometimes we all get so tickled about the things we do. Folks, we are learning skills!
7. Come on Spring...I am ready to shed the MS pounds I am packing.
8. I am insane for homeschooling these kids. Seriously, I do like it but SOME DAYS...like today...it isn't all that fun!
9. I hate dealing with insurance companies. Thirty minute phone conversation today. I now get to collect a ton of documents and send to them! I am so excited...
10. Life can be the craziest thing. We never go long without facing some adversity or things not working out exactly like we thought or planned. However, with each situation I am faced with a new opportunity to learn something and new opportunities to be thankful. More than anything--I am thankful for the perfect peace that I wake up with every single day. And that source of peace, thankfully, will not change.
